Much like the movies produced in this town, the real stories behind some of Los Angeles’ most iconic landmarks are filled with drama, action, and mystery—interconnected like the freeways that run through them. Few people are telling those stories in a more accessible and engaging way than Evan Lovett, the creator behind LA in a Minute.
As the name implies, his quick, digestible, one-minute videos break down everything from iconic chain restaurants to hidden Los Angeles histories hiding in plain sight. Lovett stopped by The SoCal Sound studios to talk about how it all started—and why places like CSUN and KCSN (now The SoCal Sound) are part of that story, and how that connection continues to shape the Southern California community.
From the Valley to the Feed
Lovett’s connection to the station and California State University Northridge runs deep.

Growing up in the San Fernando Valley community of North Hills—just down the street from The SoCal Sound—he spent time on the CSUN campus as a kid, riding his bike through the area, attending baseball camps, and being surrounded by a community that would later shape his work.
“CSUN was my home… my dad went to CSUN, my wife went to CSUN.”
So when our DM landed in his inbox to highlight the history of the station, it wasn’t just another piece of content—it was personal.

A New Kind of Local Storytelling
The word “influencer” gets thrown around a lot—but it’s a label Lovett doesn’t exactly embrace.
“I consider myself a creator or an explorer… someone that is exploring everything about Los Angeles and trying to share what I learned.”
That mindset is what separates LA in a Minute from typical social media content. His work isn’t built around trends—it’s built around curiosity.

Each piece feels less like content and more like discovery:
a connection between past and present, between places people pass every day and the stories they never knew were there.
It’s delivered with a clear goal: uplifting Los Angeles without an agenda.
At a time when content moves fast and attention spans are short, LA in a Minute proves something simple—people still care about where they live, if you give them a reason to.
Lovett’s work reminds us that:
- Every neighborhood has a story
- Every landmark has a past
- And every community—including ours—helps shape Los Angeles
For The SoCal Sound, it’s a natural fit.
Because at the end of the day, it’s the same mission:
Tell the story of Los Angeles.
Keep it local.
Keep it real.
And make people feel connected to the place they call home.
