88FIVE Live at the Theatre at Ace Hotel with Kurt Vile is brought to you by The Independent 88.5 FM, CSUN & Saddleback College.
Join 88.5 FM's midday host Julie Slater in conversation with singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and record producer, Kurt Vile!
Kurt Vile details his songwriting process, saying when he was younger, he thought to himself, "why am I not writing a song right now" but now that he's older, he enjoys the time when he's not writing. "I've been doing it long enough that you kind of just open your brain a little and get lost in the chord." Vile says about his process, "the lyrics sort of come and you don't think too hard about it."
Vile also gives us insight into how he chose the title of his latest album ‘(watch my moves)’ and why he decided to cover a Bruce Springsteen song on the album. Plus, we find out if Kurt Vile would ever make a broadway musical just like Bruce Springsteen did.
This 88FIVE Live at the Theatre at Ace Hotel with Kurt Vile session includes live acoustic performances of "Mount Airy Hill (Way Gone)," "Peeping Tomboy" and "Baby's Arm."
All 88.5FM LIVE sessions are recorded live on location.
