In 1963, The Beach Boys released “Surfer Girl”; it was the first song Brian Wilson ever wrote or produced.

In 1968, The Byrds’ album Sweetheart Of The Rodeo was released on this day.

In 1977, Elvis Costello’s debut album, My Aim Is True, was released.

In 2006, Johnny Cash was at #1 on the US album chart with American V: A Hundred Highways. Released posthumously, the vocal parts were recorded before Cash’s death, though the instruments were not recorded until 2005.

In 2019, Art Neville died at age 81 after years of declining health.
