Elvis Costello has explored his music boundaries extensively over the years. Just look at his last three projects: The New Basement Tapes where he put music to lost Bob Dylan lyrics with an all-star cast, an R&B infused album with The Roots, and an Americana based album with T Bone Burnett. Even with his expansive catalog, most will remember his early work on My Aim Is True and This Year's Model. He just announced that he will release a new album with The Imposters called Look Now on October 12th and the first tracks we're hearing seem like he's returning to that classic sound.

Costello's first album with the Imposters since 2008's Momofuku, he was inspired by his last tour of the US with the band. Costello said, "“I knew if we could make an album with the scope of ‘Imperial Bedroom’ and some of the beauty and emotion of ‘Painted From Memory’, we would really have something." He also joined forces with Burt Bacharach on three songs as co-writer and pianist.

The first song he shared, "Unwanted Number", hearkens back to "Watching The Detectives" but is clearly a song recorded for 2018. "Under Lime", on the other hand, feels almost like it could fit in a Broadway show with tempo shifts and the music building to a climax at the end.

This news comes after Costello recently announced that he would have to cancel the remainder of his European tour as he recovers from surgery to remove an aggressive malignant tumor. His American tour starts this fall and comes through the area onNovember 28th at the House Of Blues Anaheim and November 29th at The Wiltern.
