LA LOM Session with Byron Gonzalez
Discussing their debut album The Los Angeles League Of Musicians
Recorded at The SoCal Sound Studios, performing 3 songs + Interview with Byron Gonzalez
LA LOM is short for The Los Angeles League of Musicians, which is also the name of their debut album. LA LOM is comprised of Zac Sackolow (Guitar), Jake Faulkner (Bass), and Nicholas Baker (Drums/Percussion).
Listening to LA LOM feels like a celebration of the soul of classic Los Angeles sounds, blending styles of Mexican Boleros and Cumbia Sonidera, and classic LA oldies sounds of the 60’s.
LA LOM has performed mostly as a live band, relying heavily on improvisation, however when recording an album, the improv approach had to be shifted slightly. When discussing the differences of recording vs live performances from the band, Zac explains. “we mix things up a lot. We'll always be playing little pieces of things and trying them out in front of audiences and sometimes combining different things. And then we'll sometimes we'll decide certain ones will stick and we'll decide certain pieces go really well together. So these songs start in all different kinds of forms, and they get played in front of people, sometimes in forms really different from how they're recorded ”
LA LOM performed 3 songs; “Angels Point”, “San Fernando”, “Danza De LA LOM”
