New Year, New Music - What We Know is Coming in 2019

RyanAdams2019

2019 is off and running. As we start settling back into our regular routine here at 88.5 FM, we're starting to get word about great new music on the way! Just this week alone got word about a few albums on the way.

Ryan Adams - Partying like it's 2005

Few artists have the prolific songwriting and album recording skills that Ryan Adams has. His last album Prisoner had so many outtakes that it encompassed another album worth of material. For 2019, Ryan announced on Twitter that he wasn't just release a new album this year, he's release three:

He announced the names of the first two via political reporters Katy Tur and Jake Sherman:

Adams also confirmed a few of the legendary artists appearing on the albums like Don Was, Benmont Tench, and Bob Mould. Expect to see the last album announcement right around the corner.

Jenny Lewis - New album, new sounds

Since Rilo Kiley disbanded, Jenny Lewis has been a musical chameleon. She started with Acid Tongue, an album filled with Americana inspired sounds and loaded with guest musicians like Elvis Costello. Then she shifted on her next release The Voyager to more straight ahead rock with the help of production from Ryan Adams at his Pax Am Studio. Now she confirms to Entertainment Weekly that her 2019 album On The Line will be another shift. She moved to New York City and leaned on help from other women like St. Vincent. We've heard some of the songs from this period already (from her NSFW band named Nice As F***) so we're excited to hear what else she has produced. She'll be playing a hometown show at the Hollywood Palladium on May 11th.

Can one of the biggest UK bands finally break through in the US?

88.5 FM has been fans of Catfish & The Bottlemen for years, but they have yet to take over the United States like they have across the pond. Today the band released their first new music in three years and tour dates. The first single "Longshot" hints at a bit of a new direction with a little bigger production and more dynamic shifts within the song. They worked with Jacknife Lee on this album who is known for his work with U2 and The Killers. They come to Los Angeles March 22nd to perform live at the Palladium. Check out "Longshot Below":
