AND THE OSCAR GOES TO...I looooove watching the Oscar’s. The 97th Academy Awards were held tonight at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
Being a music station, of course, our focus was on Best Original song! The one and only Mick Jagger presented the award (got a standing ovation) – he said Bob Dylan was the first choice to present, but Bob wasn’t interested. Mick said Bob said, “Get someone younger,” so Mick obliged. (Btw, Mick is two years younger.)

The winner was for Best Song went to “El Mal” from “Emilia Pérez” written by Clément Ducol and Camille. (Not gonna lie, Jason Friday and I had chatted with Best Song nominees Diane Warren and also Abraham Alexander & Adrian Quesada for our Oscar special, and we were hoping they’d win!...next year Diane!! And bravo for the nomination Abraham & Adrian!)
Daniel Blumberg, who spent the late-’00s in indie bands Cajun Dance Party and Yuck, won Best Original Score for his work in "The Brutalist."
The Oscar's were filled with beautiful performances... including "Wicked" co-stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande opening the show with a moving medley from "The Wizard of Oz," "The Wiz" and their Oscar-nominated musical film...a tribute to the city of Los Angeles in the wake of January's devastating wildfires,,,a James Bond tribute with Blackpink's LISA, Doja Cat, and RAYE (she's stunning). Queen Latifah performed a Quincy Jones tribute...The Los Angeles Master Chorale joined the Academy Orchestra for a performance of Mozart's "Requiem" for the In Memoriam segment - which included a special tribute to Gene Hackman.
Big acting winners included Kieran Culkin for Best Supporting Actor for “A Real Pain.”
The very awesome Zoë Saldaña took home the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for “Emilia Pérez.”
Let’s not forget the writers: “Conclave” took the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay - written by Peter Straughan, and Sean Baker won Best Original Screenplay for Anora.
Best Actor… Adrien Brody for “The Brutalist.”
I have to say, a little bit of a shocking win, Best Actress…Mikey Madison for “Anora.” Mikey was amazing, but really thought Demi Moore was grabbing this one, although this was a great nod to Demi and her next role is gonna get it.
Best Director…Sean Baker for “Anora.” This guy direted, wrote, and edited the film, which is bonkers. And he WON for all three categories tonight. AS WELL AS...
...Best Picture…ANORA. Ummm, I called this…but wasn’t sure I was right. lol Wow. The film was done independently - leading Sean Baker to be the first person in Oscar history to win four Oscar's in one night for one film (Best Film, Best Director, Best Editing, and Best Original Screenplay).
A complete list of winners here.
Until next time, my pretties.
