Sleater-Kinney is back, with a new record, claimed to be "one of the finest, most delicately layerd records in the band's nearly 30-year career" titled Little Rope.

A key contributer to the album's inspiration comes from an unimaginable tragedy with the loss of both of Brownstein's parents

Carrie Brownstein and Corin Tucker join The SoCal Sound's Julie Slater for an interview ahead of playing 3 songs in the so cal sound studio to discuss

SLEATER KINNEY 32 One noticeable difference on Little Rope is that Corin is the majority songwriter on the album. As Carrie explains during the interview, "And Corin, Instead of bringing me food, just basically kept bringing me songs and music... everything just had to match the tenor of this, even if the songs were not addressing the grief in particular, we needed the feeling to be there"

Carrie and Corin continue to talk about making the album Little Rope and pulling Brownstein out from the deep depths of grief, and how the music is what brought her out of such a dark place.

Sleater-Kinney performs with a full band in the 88.5FM Performance Studio. They play: Hell, Say It Like You Mean It, and Hunt You Down.
