Multi-instrumentalist and core member of Arcade Fire Will Butler, announces his second solo album, Generations, due out September 25 via Merge. This announcement is paired with a feel-good music video for their fifth track of the album, “Surrender.”
Butler contrasts the new album with his first album, Policy. He said in a statement, “My first record, was a book of short stories, Generations is more of a novel—despairing, funny, a little bit epic.... A big chunk of this record is asking: What’s my place in American history? What’s my place in America’s present?”
Generations, in what seems to be in true pandemic fashion, was recorded and produced entirely in Butler’s basement.
